Andy Tew was born on January 5th, 1985, in South Carolina. As a boy he was obsessed with dinosaurs, sharks, and the hypothetical outcome of various shark v. dinosaur death-matches. In high school he followed in his older sisters’ footsteps by studying cello and reading way too much David Foster Wallace. During his undergraduate years at Amherst College he found psychology and photography, his twin passions.
Since earning his Bachelor’s degree Andy has worked in the fields of Sexual Assault Advocacy, Peer Counseling, Health Education, and Social Justice with college students. In his meetings he often includes time for everyone in the room to give impromptu compliments to a staff member chosen at random, a practice he calls “Love O’Clock.”
Andy loves making photographs so much that he intends to do it for, like, ever.
